About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Brilliant.org, you will be a key player in our Lifecycle pod, working closely with Product, Design, and Data teams to deliver impactful solutions for our learners. Your primary responsibility will be to own and evolve the technical systems that power millions of emails and push notifications, ensuring they are timely and effective in keeping our learners motivated.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and Evolve Systems: Manage and improve the systems that send tens of millions of emails and push notifications, helping learners stay motivated and achieve their goals.
- Develop Expertise: Gain deep knowledge of tools like Braze, Snowflake, and Census, which are crucial for tracking data points that determine user messaging.
- Feature Development: Bring new features from conception to completion across the entire stack, including analytics, recommendation engines, and bug tracing.
- Technical and Business Alignment: Maintain a balance between technical excellence and business needs, ensuring the Lifecycle pod builds the right solutions effectively.
- Autonomy and Authority: Exercise a high degree of autonomy and technical authority, with support from your team when needed.
- Culture of Excellence: Contribute to a culture of excellence, setting high standards for candor, accountability, and balancing velocity with quality.
Who You Are
- Experienced: You have at least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, focusing on backend and data systems.
- Outcome-Driven: Motivated by building robust, maintainable systems that drive user and business outcomes.
- Full-Stack Capable: Comfortable working across the stack and integrating with third-party systems.
- Pragmatic: Use the right tool for the job, even if it's unfamiliar or "boring."
- Collaborative: Enjoy working with cross-functional teams and sharing knowledge.
- User-Focused: Have opinions on user communications and can articulate what makes them effective.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $150,000 - $215,000 per year
