Job Description
Join MongoDB as a Software Engineer in the Atlas Foundational Services team, where you will be part of a dynamic group of engineers dedicated to developing and operating tier-zero services, frameworks, and libraries that form the backbone of MongoDB Atlas, our fully managed multi-cloud database service. This role offers the opportunity to work on the first re-architecture effort since the inception of Atlas, empowering other MongoDB teams to build more robust, performant, and maintainable features faster.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture requirements and define the scope of work for new software components/features or significant improvements with guidance from Senior/Staff engineers and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of robust software components.
- Operate large-scale, distributed systems, including root cause analysis of defects and support mitigation in case of outages under the guidance of call leaders.
- Adhere to engineering and operational best practices and processes for the team, make improvement suggestions, and help implement improvements.
- Take ownership of component-level software delivery, including setting and meeting milestones and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications
- BSc or higher in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Theoretical background in Distributed Systems and/or Database Management Systems.
- At least 2 years of practical experience in Software Engineering.
- At least 1 year of experience contributing to the development and operation of scalable, distributed production systems, including component-level system design.
- Experience in mitigating and diagnosing customer-impacting issues.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills, including technical writing.
- Track record of effectively working with stakeholders across job functions (e.g., product/design).

Location
This role can be based out of our New York City office or remotely in the US region.
Salary
MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is $101,000—$198,000 USD. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location.
