About the Role
Join Agoda's rapidly expanding Fintech team as a Senior Data Engineer. Based in Bangkok, this role offers relocation assistance for the right candidate. As part of our team, you will work closely with finance business teams and Fintech product owners to reduce risk, drive efficiencies, and explore new market opportunities. This is an exciting field that combines data engineering with backend engineering, offering a perfect mix for those passionate about fintech.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the team technically to improve the scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of our existing data systems.
- Build, administer, and scale data processing pipelines.
- Navigate and utilize our technology stack, including Scala, Spark, Java, Golang, Python3, scripting (Bash/Python), Hadoop, SQL, and S3.
- Design, build, test, and deploy new libraries, frameworks, or full systems for our core systems while maintaining high standards of testing and code quality.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and product owners to identify and build tools to automate large-scale data management and analysis tasks.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software and data engineering.
- Strong experience with Apache Spark.
- Expert-level understanding of JVM and proficiency in either Java or Scala.
- Experience in debugging and reasoning about production issues.
- A good understanding of data architecture principles is preferred.
- Experience with Big Data technologies and tools.
- Proficiency in SQL and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
- Systems administration skills in Linux.
Preferred Qualifications
- Good understanding of Hadoop ecosystems.
- Experience working with open-source products.
- Python/Shell scripting skills.
- Experience working in an agile environment using test-driven methodologies.
