About the Role
Join Agoda's rapidly expanding Fintech team as a Senior Data Engineer. Based in Bangkok, this role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of data engineering and fintech, driving efficiencies and exploring new market opportunities. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will lead technical improvements in scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of our data systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Technical Improvements: Enhance the scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of existing data systems.
- Data Processing Pipelines: Build, administer, and scale data processing pipelines using technologies like Scala, Spark, Java, Golang, Python3, Hadoop, SQL, and S3.
- System Design and Development: Design, build, test, and deploy new libraries, frameworks, or full systems for core systems, maintaining high standards of testing and code quality.
- Automation and Tools Development: Collaborate with experienced engineers and product owners to identify and build tools to automate large-scale data management and analysis tasks.
What You’ll Need
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in software and data engineering, with a strong background in Apache Spark and JVM (Java or Scala).
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving capabilities and experience in debugging and reasoning about production issues.
- Data Architecture: A good understanding of data architecture principles and experience with Big Data technologies/tools.
- Systems Administration: Skills in Linux systems administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hadoop Ecosystems: Good understanding and experience working with Hadoop ecosystems.
- Open-source Products: Experience with open-source products and Python/Shell scripting skills.
- Agile Environment: Experience working in an agile environment using test-driven methodologies.
