Actuary Analyst I
The Opportunity
Root Inc. is seeking an Actuary Analyst I to join our dynamic pricing group. As a disruptive force in the insurance industry, we are committed to leveraging modern statistical machine learning methods to solve complex problems. This role is integral to our mission, focusing on producing accurate rate filings, state expansion filings, and developing tools to monitor our pricing and competitive position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Rate Filings: Accurately and efficiently produce rate filings and engineering implementations.
- Execute Pricing Initiatives: Lead initial state roll-out and rate changes for auto and renters products.
- Data Evaluation: Analyze data, including quarterly indications, to develop recommendations for pricing improvements and strategic goals.
- Support Filing Objections: Provide thorough, accurate, and effective analysis and communication to support filing objections.
What You Will Need To Succeed
- Actuarial Exams: Completion of 2-3 actuarial exams.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and experience with databases and SQL.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical rigor and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills, with experience in communicating with state regulators preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: 1+ years of auto/home pricing experience.
- Programming: Experience with R or Python.
