The Role
As a Senior Data Scientist at Quora, you will be part of a team that is deeply integrated into the product development process. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to:
- Develop metrics and design experiments to measure product impact.
- Analyze data across the product to identify trends and root causes.
- Communicate findings to stakeholders to influence product decisions.
- Develop tools to automate and scale analyses, enhancing productivity across the company.
Responsibilities
- Extract actionable insights from broad, open-ended questions.
- Design and evaluate experiments to measure the impact of product changes.
- Analyze data from across the product to uncover the root causes of metric movements.
- Communicate results to cross-functional stakeholders to inform product decisions.
- Develop tools to scale and automate analyses, improving productivity across the company.
- Mentor other data scientists and promote best practices in data usage.
Minimum Requirements
- Available for meetings during Quora's coordination hours (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).
- 2+ years of experience in an analytical or quantitative role.
- Proficiency in a procedural programming language (e.g., Python, R).
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with large data sets and distributed computing tools (e.g., Redshift, Presto).
- Active user of Quora and/or Poe with a deep curiosity about the product.
