About the Role
EXADS is seeking a skilled Database Engineer to join our dynamic team in Porto, Portugal. As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring our ClickHouse and MariaDB database systems, ensuring their reliability and stability over time. You will work closely with development teams to design, implement, and maintain databases based on end-user requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor ClickHouse database clusters and MariaDB database systems.
- Ensure system reliability and stability over time.
- Optimize the cost-effective and efficient use of resources.
- Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and maintain databases.
- Regularly review and improve database systems’ design.
- Research performance bottlenecks and suggest solutions.
- Contribute to team process improvements adhering to industry best practices.
- Participate in team knowledge-sharing activities.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience with MySQL/MariaDB administration.
- Experience in diagnosing, analyzing, and resolving operational problems.
- Experience in database performance analysis and fine-tuning.
- Knowledge about partitioning and sharding of data.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and related management tools (JIRA, Confluence).
- Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Desired exposure to programming languages such as PHP, Python, and Go.
- Previous experience with BigData systems (Hadoop, Impala, ClickHouse) is a plus.
- BS / MS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

Location
This position is based in Porto, Portugal, but can be fulfilled from anywhere in Portugal, offering a hybrid work model.
