Tech Lead / Engineering Manager

Job Overview

Dimension is seeking a Tech Lead / Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team in San Francisco. This role is pivotal in leading our engineering team, managing projects, and contributing to the codebase. You will be responsible for both technical leadership and people management, ensuring the successful delivery of projects and the growth of your team.

Key Responsibilities

• Coding and Development: Spend approximately 60% of your time coding, focusing on both front-end and back-end development. You will work with technologies such as Node.js and ReactJS, and manage complex logic for features like commission and accounting.
• Team Management: Allocate 40% of your time to managing a distributed engineering team based in Asia. This includes running daily stand-ups, delegating tasks, conducting code reviews, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the product and operations teams to design and develop new features. You will also review product specifications and provide feedback on feasibility and priority.
• DevOps and Quality Assurance: Take ownership of the DevOps process, including staging, testing, launch, and post-launch activities. Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain code quality.
• Remote Team Leadership: Lead a remote team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across different time zones.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience: At least 4 years as a software engineer, with a mix of experience in both large tech companies and startups. At least 1 year of management experience is required.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in full-stack development, including Node.js and ReactJS. Familiarity with Postgres and database design is essential.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team or project. Experience in running daily stand-ups and managing remote teams is highly preferred.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with an understanding of the importance of over-communication in a remote team setting.
• Work Authorization: Must have the proper work authorization to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we do not sponsor work visas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry Experience: Experience in the sustainability, environmental science, or logistics industry is strongly preferred.
• Remote Team Management: Experience leading a remote or distributed team is highly desirable.
