Security Engineer - Security Automation and Operational Research

Job Description

Amazon Data Services France is seeking a highly motivated Security Engineer to join our team and help build and scale security operations across the largest cloud provider in the world. As a Security Engineer specializing in Security Automation and Operational Research, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and reliability of our services.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Excellence: Drive operational excellence by creating efficient processes, procedures, and automation to improve day-to-day tasks and projects. Support internal customers by addressing their needs and issues effectively.

• Development and Research: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide critical support for the Security Operations team. Conduct research to enhance security measures and improve operational efficiency through data analysis and metrics.

• Incident Response: Develop and improve incident and change management processes within the security domain. Drive initiatives to enhance existing tools and processes, providing feedback on new practices to scale with Amazon's rapid expansion.

• Operations Measurement: Focus on driving quality into the metrics reported to assist in identifying areas with the best return on investment. Measure project plans, issues, and cycle times to ensure operational efficiency.

• Mentorship and Career Growth: Support new team members through knowledge sharing and mentorship. Provide opportunities for junior engineers to lead new development projects and grow their careers.

• Inclusive and Diverse Culture: Contribute to an inclusive and welcoming team culture. Work effectively with a diverse team of peers to amplify the positive team environment.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technology experience.
• 3+ years of experience building scalable incident response utilities and tools.
• 3+ years of experience in systems, network, and/or application security.
• Proficiency in web protocols and Linux/Unix tools and architecture.
• Experience in host, network, and application security.
• 2+ years of experience building automated tools in languages such as C, C++, Python, Perl, and/or Ruby.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technology experience.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and familiarity with AWS services.
• Strong knowledge of web protocols and Linux/Unix tools and architecture.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical individuals.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic environment.
