Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our technology-based program supporting a key government customer in Herndon, Virginia. This role involves delivering engineering services for network infrastructure and sophisticated enterprise computing infrastructure, including end-point devices, data center hosted servers, multi-cloud services, virtualized applications, and storage systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering services for network infrastructure and enterprise computing infrastructure.
- Work with modern application technology, including containerized solutions with orchestrated workflows.
- Engage in network infrastructure engineering services, including core infrastructure, voice and video engineering, field engineering, application management, and development for networks.
- Conduct network analytics, manage firewalls, network access controls, and bandwidth service delivery.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 11+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code languages, with Ansible as a must-have.
- Experience with system automation and Linux.
- Familiarity with Eclipse, GitHub, DevOps practices, Java, and Python.
- Experience in security review of applications and infrastructure.
- 4+ years of experience in agile activities.
- Research and implement new technologies in object-oriented programming.
- Experience in cloud-based services.
- Ability to work well in an engineering team environment and mentor others.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with infrastructure automation technologies like Docker and Vagrant.
- Experience with build automation technologies like Maven and Jenkins.
- Experience with building APIs and services using REST and SOAP.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Perl and Shell.
