Job Overview
VASS, a global digital transformation company, is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer - OSDU to join our team in Brussels. This role involves working closely with the European Commission to enhance the reliability and availability of the "Compass Corporate" platform. You will be responsible for operating various components, providing expert advice, and ensuring the platform's smooth operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and improve the reliability of the "Compass Corporate" environments.
- Monitor and proactively address potential issues.
- Provide expert advice on installation, configuration, and tuning of tools and platforms such as Oracle, Elastic Search, Apache, Redis, Rundeck, Ansible, and Vault.
- Configure automated deployment of applications on microservice-based platforms using PKS containers or AWS EKS.
- Manage Linux systems administration tasks and scripting.
- Monitor system performance and availability, resolving issues to prevent service disruptions.
- Manage backups and disaster recovery plans.
- Identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities or compliance issues.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Apply best practices of distributed architecture to solve complex integration problems.
- Configure the lifecycle of microservices in a container-based infrastructure.
- Define and configure monitoring dashboards and alerting policies.
- Collaborate with team members for operations support and maintain application performance.
- Document and provide training on procedures.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Rapid self-starting capability and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with microservices and architecture in the cloud.
- Good knowledge of applications design and architecture best practices.
- Expertise in Linux system administration and automation tools like Shell script, Terraform, Rundeck, Python, and Ansible.
- Experience with database management systems such as Oracle, Elastic Search, Redis, Postgres, AWS RDS, and AWS Aurora.
- Understanding of container platforms like EKS/PKS/Kubernetes and microservice infrastructure.
- Experience with middleware integration platforms and cloud-based application architecture.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools like Grafana, ELK, Splunk, and Prometheus.
- Experience in software development and information system integration architecture design.
- Familiarity with Confluence, JIRA, and Agile methodologies.
Certifications & Standards
- Certificates in Linux Database Administration and AWS RDS are advantageous.
