About the Role

Datadog is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in eBPF and the Linux kernel to join our eBPF Platform team. This team is responsible for building shared tooling and agent functionality for teams utilizing eBPF, enabling new teams interested in exploring eBPF, and centralizing knowledge on the topic. As a member of this team, you will contribute to open source projects such as btfhub and cilium/ebpf.

Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Own new feature development end-to-end from ideation to implementation.
• eBPF Functionality: Build common eBPF functionality for product teams to use in their eBPF-based products.
• Research and Development: Research, prototype, develop, and document solutions to confusing and/or hard-to-use functionality of eBPF, easing the on-ramp for eBPF developers.
• Product Decisions: Be a driving force in product decisions.
• Team Leadership: Manage a small team of engineers.

Who You Are

• Linux Kernel Experience: You have experience working with and developing in the Linux kernel, either using eBPF, as a kernel developer, or building low-level programs in C.
• High Throughput Systems: You have significant experience building high throughput/low latency systems.
• Software Development: You have been building applications and tooling for 5+ years and know the systems you’ve worked on in depth.
• Customer Focused: You are motivated by solving problems for our customers first and foremost and building beautiful products that our customers love.
• Leadership Experience: A Software Engineer at heart with previous experience leading software engineering teams, as a tech lead or people manager.
