About the Role

The Fabric Remote Procedure Call (RPC) team at Datadog is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and scalable internal service-to-service communication for Datadog’s engineering teams. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will develop and maintain data plane components and network control plane integrations for east-west internal service communication, which powers Datadog’s products.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with internal engineers and open source maintainers to build features and optimizations that reduce the overhead of high-throughput network communications at scale.
Provide both out-of-the-box best practices and deep dives into Linux, Kubernetes, Cilium, gRPC, and related systems.

Who You Are

You can operate independently, methodically experiment, rapidly iterate, and have no fear of failure.
You have experience with Golang, gRPC, xDS, Envoy, Cilium, eBPF, Kubernetes, Linux, and data center networking concepts (IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, routing, NAT).
Bonus: Prior experience with Kubernetes controllers, gRPC, Envoy, or other load balancers.
