Agoda is seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. This role is based in Bangkok, with relocation assistance provided. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the scalability, stability, and efficiency of our data platform.
About the Role
In this position, you will lead a team of talented engineers to improve our existing data platform. You will be responsible for building, administering, and scaling the platform, ensuring it meets the needs of our business and customers. You will work with a variety of technologies, including S3, Kubernetes, KubeFlow, Spark, SQL, Impala, Scala, Java, and Python.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical improvement of our data platform, focusing on scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency.
- Build, administer, and scale the data platform to support business needs.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers to automate large-scale data platform management.
- Navigate and utilize a diverse technology stack, including S3, Kubernetes, KubeFlow, Spark, SQL, Impala, Scala, Java, and Python.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in data platform administration and Kubernetes administration.
- Strong experience with Apache Spark performance tuning and debugging.
- Good understanding of JVM and proficiency in either Java or Scala.
- Experience with workflow schedulers such as KubeFlow, AirFlow, or Oozie.
- Proficiency in SQL, with experience in SparkSql, Impala, BigQuery, Presto/Trino, or StarRocks.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and experience.
- Systems administration skills in Linux.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with open-source products.
- Python/Shell scripting skills.
- Experience working in an agile environment using test-driven methodologies.
