Remote Software Engineer - High Performance Computing

Join Microsoft as a Software Engineer in the Azure HPC Workloads team, where you will play a pivotal role in benchmarking HPC systems, tuning performance of HPC applications, and analyzing the performance characteristics of complex workflows. This position offers a unique opportunity to partner closely with the Azure HPC team to validate the performance of current and future HPC hardware and virtual machines, project the performance of future systems and applications, and make recommendations to Azure leadership about future technologies.
Responsibilities
- Identify appropriate benchmarks to represent customer and partner workloads.
- Optimize and execute benchmarks on High Performance Computing (HPC) virtual machines and create automation to enable simple re-execution (e.g., scripts).
- Project performance and scaling of future HPC hardware on key benchmarks.
- Partner with stakeholders (e.g., customers, program managers, engineer leaders) to determine user requirements for future HPC systems.
- Maintain communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers to ensure alignment with partners' expectations.
- Stay current by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments in technology and best practices in HPC.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse teams.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with performance analysis.
- Experience with shell scripts and automation.
- Exposure to Cloud Computing, Virtualization, and Container Technologies.
- Experience with HPC environments and technologies.
- Previous experience developing scientific applications and workflows for supercomputers.
