We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Senior Principal Backend Developer supporting the Digital Health Surgical Engineering Team in Ft. Worth, TX, you will play a key role in collaborating with various teams to design, implement, and maintain a robust backend for our digital platform. Leveraging this position’s expertise in backend development and cloud, this role will contribute to the creation of scalable architectures and drive continuous improvement in our software development process.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with architects in the surgical team and other engineering teams, product team, scrum masters, and cross-functional teams to develop a robust backend for the digital platform.
• Design and implement reliable and scalable backend architecture by leveraging the existing digital platform.
• Assist in setting up backend infrastructure and collaborate with the DevOps team to create pipelines for continuous integration and deployment.
• Participate actively in the software development process, resolving challenging issues to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
• Support backend testing efforts and devise testing methods to simulate real-world scenarios effectively.
• Serve as a representative of the surgical team to provide strategic input on cloud architecture and backend implementation for the digital health organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
• 7 Years of Relevant Experience
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
• Proficiency in backend development, such as Spring Boot, Java.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
• Experience with medical software development.
