Latitude AI, a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, is at the forefront of developing automated driving technologies. We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Localization & Mapping team in Pittsburgh, PA. This role is pivotal in advancing our automated driving systems, providing accurate vehicle positioning and state estimates, and contributing to the creation of highly accurate maps at scale.

About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:

• Collaborate with expert software engineers and roboticists to build scalable solutions for one of the largest-scale robotics projects in history.
• Architect, design, and implement novel solutions for onboard localization and offline mapping.
• Develop production-quality, high-performance software in a fast-paced, autonomous environment while maintaining a strong safety culture.
• Lead and communicate design decisions, implementation improvements, and project progress within your team and across the organization.
• Write and lead automated tests and metrics to improve and validate performance.

What You'll Need

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience (or a Master's degree with 5+ years, or a PhD with 2+ years).
• Significant experience in IMU filtering, state estimation, vehicle dynamics, localization, mapping, SLAM, and geometric computer vision.
• Proficiency in C++ software development.
• A track record of leading technical product development culminating in successful launches.

Nice to Have

• A Master's or PhD in Robotics, ECE, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience in Python software development.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in taking products or large features from research to consumer release.

Location

This position is based in Pittsburgh, PA, with a hybrid work model allowing for both on-site and off-site work.

Salary

The expected base salary range for this full-time position is €207,760 to €285,670 per year, with eligibility for annual bonus programs and equity compensation.
