Agoda is seeking a talented and ambitious Lead Data Scientist to join our dynamic Data Science and Machine Learning team in Bangkok. This is an exciting opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and productive machine learning and big data platforms worldwide. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be at the forefront of processing over 600 billion events daily and making 5 billion predictions.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Design, code, experiment, and implement models and algorithms to enhance customer experience, supply-side value, and business outcomes.
- Mine big data from hundreds of millions of customers and over 600 million daily user-generated events to discover actionable insights.
- Collaborate with developers and business owners to deliver high-quality results daily.
- Research and harness new ideas that can make a significant impact on our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement machine learning models for dynamic pricing, real-time customer intent prediction, and search result ranking.
- Innovate algorithm-supported promotions and products for supply partners.
- Work on one of the world’s largest ML infrastructures, employing dozens of GPUs, 30K+ CPU cores, and 150TB of memory.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- 4+ years of hands-on data science experience.
- Excellent understanding of AI/ML/DL and Statistics.
- Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python, PySpark, and/or Scala.
- Ability to lead and work independently as well as in a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for a multicultural work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or other quantitative fields.
- Experience in NLP, image processing, and/or recommendation systems.
- Hands-on experience in data engineering and big data frameworks like Spark/Hadoop.
- Experience in data science for e-commerce and/or OTA.
