Lead Site Reliability Engineer

About the Role

Sporttrade is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to lead and scale our Site Reliability Engineering team. Initially reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this candidate will be paramount in designing, building, and deploying Sporttrade’s cloud and on-premise infrastructure to empower the organization to deliver its products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Support: Provide primary operational support and engineering for various Sporttrade services.
• Incident Management: Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem reviews to continuously improve system reliability and reduce downtime.
• Infrastructure Design: Design, deploy, and maintain both on-premise and cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or GCP) to meet the organization’s requirements for scalability, performance, and security.
• Infrastructure as Code: Utilize Infrastructure as Code tooling to ensure that all infrastructure is repeatable and versioned.
• Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for deployment, monitoring, and incident management to improve operational efficiency.
• Architectural Recommendations: Provide architectural recommendations and implementations to Sporttrade’s evolving Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Team Leadership: Own the team management and structure of the Site Reliability Engineering team.
• Metrics and Communication: Own the measurement and communication of key metrics for each environment at Sporttrade.
• Knowledge Sharing: Encourage and facilitate knowledge sharing across each team in the engineering organization.
• On-call Rotation: Participate in flexible on-call rotations.

Required Skills and Experience

• IaC Tools: Excellent working knowledge with IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Cloud Providers: Strong working knowledge with cloud providers, with bonus points for AWS and GCP experience.
• Kubernetes: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, GKE experience is a plus.
• CI/CD Tools: Extensive experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub actions.
• Linux Environment: Strong operational experience in a Linux environment.
• Scripting: Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting for automation and system management.
• Database Experience: Bonus points for experience working with Postgres or other SQL database engines.
• Communication and Leadership: Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
