Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Ads team at Whatnot, you will be pivotal in building and enhancing the advertising systems that help sellers grow their businesses on our platform. This role involves working across the full ads stack, including bidding & targeting, ranking/auction, serving, campaign management, and seller tooling. You will be responsible for building highly scalable systems that handle all aspects of running an online advertising system.
Responsibilities
- Build ads products by working across the full ads stack.
- Develop highly scalable systems that handle the complexities of online advertising.
- Understand our buyer and seller experiences to become an expert in helping them effectively scale their business through ads products.
- Make sound product decisions and navigate new domains seamlessly.
- Take extreme ownership and ship high-quality products fast.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with some industry experience in ads serving, ads quality, pricing, discovery, ranking, recommendations, and/or search engines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong product instincts; prioritizing users over technical solutions.
- Experience in building scalable systems at a high-growth company.
- Proficiency in Python, Elixir, and JavaScript.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
