About the Role
Slack is seeking a Senior Staff Backend Engineer to join our Core Product team. This role involves building features, designing and implementing API methods, and enhancing the performance and reliability of our systems as we scale. You will be making pivotal decisions that significantly affect our product and company.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy for broad or complex requirements with forward-looking approaches.
- Set vision for strategic development of methods and evaluation criteria across the engineering organization.
- Guide efforts of a functional group through delegation to senior technical leaders.
- Identify and remedy communication gaps across diverse teams.
- Own features or systems and define their long-term health.
- Train engineers for incident response and command.
- Mentor and build new leaders within the company.
What You Should Have
- 12+ years of experience in web application development.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, C, or Java.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
