Senior Backend Engineer, Payments (AML/KYC)

About the Role

Vinted is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Payments domain team, focusing on AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) processes. This role is pivotal in ensuring secure and efficient transactions, enhancing user experience, and driving successful transactions through a reliable platform with advanced fraud prevention and tailored payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive High-Impact Projects: Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and data scientists to deliver projects from inception to completion.
• Technical Leadership: Take charge of tech initiatives within the Vinted Pay product, advocate for best practices, influence technical direction, and ensure quality from the outset.
• Code Development and Review: Work with Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Memcached, Elasticsearch, and more. Engage in code reviews and GitHub pull requests to maintain high standards.
• Monitoring and Performance: Use tools like Kibana, Grafana, and DataDog to monitor deployed code and ensure optimal performance.
• Service Reliability: Take ownership of Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) within the product team.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively across teams to prioritize tasks and deliver impactful results.
• Feedback and Growth: Offer and seek constructive feedback to foster personal and team growth.

About You

• Experience: Extensive experience in backend engineering, with a focus on designing scalable and reliable systems.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Ruby and Golang is preferred, but a willingness to learn new technologies is essential. Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana and Kibana.
• Database Knowledge: Experience with relational and in-memory databases, including MySQL and Redis.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive meaningful change.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams across different domains.

Salary

The salary range for this position is €59,700 - €80,700 per year.
