Senior Platform Engineer

About the Role

Tamara is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Core Infrastructure team in Berlin, Germany. This role is pivotal in advancing our technological capabilities, particularly in the area of Engineering Enablement. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will work on major projects and initiatives, contributing significantly to our mission of delivering unique customer experiences on a global scale.

Responsibilities

• Develop and Maintain Developer-Focused Services: Design, develop, and maintain backend and frontend services for our suite of developer tools and websites. This role supports our users’ journey, from internal team members to external clients.
• Participate in Architectural Design: Contribute to the architectural planning of our systems with innovation and creativity under the mentorship of more experienced engineers.
• Automation and Tooling Enhancement: Work on enhancing automation processes and tooling to make our systems more scalable, efficient, and easier to deploy. This effort aims to improve operational effectiveness with a focus on learning and applying best practices.
• Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams: Provide hands-on support to our customers and partners by working within a multidisciplinary team. Effective collaboration and communication are essential to meet diverse needs and challenges.
• Engage with the Open Source Community: Participate in our open-source ecosystem by contributing code, creating tutorials, and engaging with the community to share knowledge and improvements.
• Agile and DevOps Practices: Work in an agile environment and adopt a DevOps mindset. Responsibilities include taking part in the full software lifecycle, from development to maintenance, and participating in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability.

Your Expertise

• Experience in Platform Engineering: Minimum 3 years of experience in a Platform Engineer or Full-Stack Engineer role, with a focus on cloud-based systems.
• Team Collaboration and Creativity: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, with a willingness to explore and implement new technologies under guidance.
• Cloud Infrastructure Proficiency: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Oracle, etc., and familiarity with Kubernetes, including configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, and GitOps.
• Coding Skills: Experience with coding design principles, patterns, and best practices, preferably in a mid-size environment.
• Understanding of DevOps Principles: Knowledge of DevOps principles, including software lifecycle management, from building and packaging to deployment.
• Automated Testing Knowledge: Understanding of automated testing principles and practices to ensure code reliability and efficiency.
• Database Familiarity: Basic knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases and their application in different scenarios.
• Microservices Development: Experience in developing scalable microservices using Java, Golang, or similar technologies.
• Front-End Technology Experience: Familiarity with front-end technologies such as JavaScript/ES6, React, VueJs, Angular, or similar frameworks.
• Development Tools Usage: Proficiency in using common development tools like Github, CI/CD pipelines, and related technologies.
• Adaptability: Capable of adapting quickly to changing business requirements and working effectively in an agile setup.
• Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills in English for effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
